Monivea National School Said 'Goodbye' To A Very Special Person This Week..
Gerry, our bus man retired after 20 years service to the children and families of Monivea National School. It was a very emotional day for many of the children who awaited him eagerly in the hall to surprise him and take a trip down memory lane, while sharing their memories throughout the years on the bus.
It was very clear that Gerry was more than their busman. He knew his passengers inside out, from their hobbies, to their weekend activities, to family members at home who also benefited from the Tayto's and Capri suns that were a parting gift from Gerry at the end of the school year. The children shared fond memories of their time on Gerry's bus and wrote an acrostic poem for him.

Mrs. Geoghegan made a heart felt speech to Gerry on his retirement and thanked him for all his kindness and care to all pupils through the years that he took such great care of on their journey to and from school. Thank you to all the staff who made this day a special day for Gerry and to the parents who were able to attend on the day. Thank you to his friends and colleagues who attended to mark this special occasion. Thank you also to Albert O Loughlin, our treasurer of the Board of Management who presented Gerry with a voucher from the school as a thank you for all his dedicated service and kindness throughout the years.
We wish him a long and happy retirement from all at Monivea National School and we hope he will pop in to see us during the year.
