Celebrating Autism Awareness Day

Tuesday the 2nd of April is Autism Awareness Day. To mark this we have two speakers visiting our classes this week. Today we had Aisling from GAP (Galway Autism Partnership) who spoke and presented to all classes.

She explained what autism is and that it is OK to be different after all no two of us are the same, we are all individual, everyone in a classroom experiences things differently. Even though some of our brains work a little bit differently we all share the same needs.

Aisling explained that there are 3 golden rules, Be Kind, Be Patient, Be Friendly
She also told us about the super power that we all have .... we have the power to change someone's day from a bad day to a good day, it's very easy and our children are already very good at using this super power in Scoil Mhuire!
